PerformYard earns its 4.7 rating as a focused, configurable performance-management point solution — reviews, goals, 360 feedback, and continuous check-ins, with a dedicated success manager included. But it's explicit about what it isn't: not an all-in-one HR suite with payroll, benefits, onboarding, or an ATS, and not built for teams that need deep analytics or BI dashboards, since its own reporting is basic and advanced reporting needs the API and developer work. Its mobile experience is also browser-only and does noticeably less than the desktop product. If any of those gaps matter more to you than PerformYard's configurability and support, these three are worth comparing.

  • 15Five — best for teams that want a continuous weekly check-in rhythm with manager coaching built in.
  • Lattice — best for teams that want performance data tied to engagement data, plus a growing HRIS layer.
  • Leapsome — best for organizations wanting a fully unified people platform with EU data hosting.

1. 15Five — for a continuous weekly check-in rhythm with manager coaching built in

Where PerformYard is built around configurable review cycles, 15Five is built around a different operating rhythm entirely: weekly check-ins and structured 1-on-1s that centralize conversation history and action items, paired with OKR tracking and optional manager training and coaching add-ons aimed at improving manager effectiveness and retention. For HR teams whose actual goal is replacing annual reviews with continuous feedback rather than running better periodic cycles, that's a meaningfully different product shape than PerformYard offers.

The tradeoff: 15Five's own check-in and survey questions can feel rigid and hard to customize — the inverse of PerformYard's flexible review-cycle configuration — and reviewers describe its pricing as above market, with SSO gated to higher plans. Its mobile experience also lags the web app, so it doesn't resolve PerformYard's mobile limitation either. 15Five's review base (4.7/5 across roughly 895 Capterra reviews) is smaller than PerformYard's own 1,217 G2 reviews, so weigh that narrower sample against the coaching add-ons you'd be paying extra for. It's the right swap specifically for teams that want continuous check-ins and coaching, not more configurable review cycles.

2. Lattice — for performance data tied to engagement and a growing HRIS layer

Lattice directly addresses PerformYard's basic-reporting gap: it consolidates performance reviews, goals, feedback, and engagement surveys into one system specifically so HR teams can tie engagement data to performance data, rather than treating them as separate exports. It also integrates well with Slack and Teams for manager workflows, and — unlike PerformYard, which explicitly syncs from an external HRIS rather than being one — Lattice has been layering in its own HRIS capabilities, giving teams a path to more than a point solution if they eventually want it.

What you give up: Lattice carries pricing that can feel high for smaller organizations, with reviewers citing a roughly $4,000 annual minimum spend that's a poor fit for very small teams. Some areas, particularly OKRs and reporting configuration, are described as complex to set up, so the added depth comes with real setup cost — a different tradeoff than PerformYard's simpler, faster-to-adopt configuration. Lattice's review volume is also the largest of the three alternatives by a wide margin, at roughly 4,010 reviews (4.7/5), suggesting a broader installed base than PerformYard's own 1,217.

3. Leapsome — for a fully unified people platform with EU data hosting

Leapsome goes furthest of the three toward solving PerformYard's point-solution limitation: performance reviews, engagement surveys, goals, learning, and compensation all sit on one data foundation, with automated review cycles reviewers say save significant time each round. It's also explicit about GDPR compliance, EU data hosting, and ISO 27001 certification — a specific fit for European organizations that need that posture and don't get it spelled out from PerformYard.

The tradeoff: Leapsome's pricing is custom-quoted and modular, and reviewers describe it as steep for smaller teams, with per-module costs adding up quickly and initial setup requiring meaningful effort. Its goal and OKR management also still requires manual updates with customization limits. And like PerformYard, Leapsome doesn't include native payroll processing or full benefits administration — so if an all-in-one HR suite was the actual goal, neither tool gets you there.

Does any of these alternatives fix PerformYard's basic reporting?

Lattice comes closest, since it's specifically built to connect engagement data with performance data rather than treating reporting as an afterthought. Leapsome's unified data foundation also supports deeper analysis across modules. 15Five, by contrast, doesn't primarily compete on reporting depth — its focus is check-in cadence and manager coaching instead.

Which alternative is easiest to adopt without a long setup?

15Five is generally the fastest to get running, since its weekly check-in model is more prescriptive out of the box. Lattice and Leapsome both require more upfront configuration — Lattice around OKRs and reporting, Leapsome across its modular pricing and multiple product areas — closer to an investment than a quick swap.

Do any of these solve PerformYard's mobile-experience gap?

Not clearly. 15Five's own reviewers say its mobile app lags the web experience too, and neither Lattice's nor Leapsome's mobile experience is highlighted as a strength in their review data. If a strong native mobile app is the actual requirement, none of the three is a confirmed fix.

Which one is right for you

If your team wants to replace annual reviews with a continuous, weekly rhythm and is willing to trade away some review-cycle flexibility for manager coaching tools, 15Five is the closer fit. If the real gap is tying performance data to engagement data — or eventually wanting more HRIS capability than a point solution provides — Lattice does that, at a real minimum-spend cost. If you need reviews, engagement, goals, and learning fully unified on one platform, especially with EU data hosting, Leapsome goes furthest, provided the modular pricing and setup effort are worth it. None of the three are a full HR suite with payroll and benefits built in — on that specific gap, all four tools, including PerformYard, expect you to bring your own HRIS.
